TEATRO YERBABRUJA INVITA

Teatro Experimental Yerbabruja – Annual Gala

MASQUERADE BALL

Dear Friend:

You know who we are: A not-for-profit organization incorporated in 2004 and 501(c)(3)-certified by the IRS, our various programs use the theatrical and other performing and visual arts as tools to create greater understanding and appreciation among our area’s culturally and ethnically diverse youth and other residents. (For details please see our web site, www.teatroyerbabruja.org.)

Our next Annual Gala fundraiser is scheduled for this coming March 21, at the Brentwood Country Club in … you guessed it … Brentwood . You are invited … urged, actually … to support the event by placing ads in our Gala Journal, and by purchasing tickets and attending the event. (Please see the attachment for details.) Here’s why:

• It is no secret that government and corporate financial support for nonprofit organizations has been drying up during these very difficult economic times. Yet, particularly in view of the recent attention given to the tragic results of cultural/ethnic bias, there is a greater demand than ever before for our programs and their focus on constructive social change … not only in the Central Islip-Brentwood communities, in which our activities have largely taken place, but throughout Long Island. In addition, some of our programming growth focuses on the relationship between the arts and economic development, something which, it goes without saying, also is very much needed. Fundraising via our Gala, is, therefore, more important than ever.

• Our Gala events are a lot of fun … we kid you not, ask anyone who has attended them … and in these remarkably stressful times there is no better medicine than to attend an event at which you leave a lot more relaxed and happy than when you arrived!

• In keeping with our vision, our Gala also provides an opportunity to honor two of our staunchest supporters … State Assemblyman Phil Ramos and Suffolk County Legislator Rick Montano … as well as to present our Jorge Renderos Social Justice Award to Luis Valenzuela, and our Community Organization Award to the Long Island Community Foundation.
Please let us hear from you soon. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us via phone (631-626-3603) or email (teatroyerbabruja@yahoo.com).

Sincerely,

Margarita Espada
